Forty Years of 'People Helping People' #ATCAA40

June 16th, 2021 -  We are beginning a year-long community celebration that will commemorate ATCAA’s 40th anniversary and how the service has evolved and helped residents during that time.  June will kick things off with proclamations from government partners, the boards of supervisors, and city councils in Amador and Tuolumne County.

Over the coming year, we will be hosting themed months with activities and events that will celebrate the people behind the programs that we have provided to the community that continues to make an impact for thousands.

ATCAA was created in June of 1981 as a public, nonprofit entity through a joint powers agreement between the two counties of Amador and Tuolumne to help improve the lives of residents in the foothill region. Some of its services also cover Calaveras, Alpine and Mariposa counties.

Community action agencies (CAAs) have been in existence since President Lyndon B. Johnson's Economic Opportunity Act (EOA) of 1964 to combat poverty. They were developed to assess community needs; identify available federal, state and local resources; establish priorities, and determine strategies to provide measurable positive economic impacts on local lives, including in helping develop self-sufficiency.

We are asking the members of our community, from volunteers to clients to parents of our head start students, to share with us their stories of how they have seen ATCAA help within our community. Please use the form below to share your story with us and (with your permission) we hope to share these stories here and on social media.

Below you will find information for our 40th Anniversary events (updated throughout the year) and our year-long program that will highlight all of our partners, staff, volunteers, donors, and services throughout the year on our social media pages. Be sure to follow us on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter to keep up to date on our year-long celebration!

ATCAA Wants to Hear From You!

"As we kick off our year-long 40th Anniversary Celebration we invite our community to share their stories of the part ATCAA has played in their life and also help us recognize and thank everyone who has contributed to our mission of 'people helping people."
